Work With MeAngela and Erik's Wedding at Antrim 1844 was the celebration of not only two people coming together as one, but also a celebration of two families from two different countries merging as one.
Cupid Has Its Own Agenda
Angela was born and raised in Columbia and came to this country to learn the language so she could get a job in the technology sector in her home country. What she didn't expect was that she would fall in love and make the country her home. Falling in love, as Angela tells it, was not on her agenda but as it happens so many times, cupid had different plans for her and Erik.
The Heart Hurts and Heals
"Erik was just so sweet and adoring, I fell head over heels in love with him. Telling my parents that I was in love with an American was not an easy conversation, but the thought of leaving him was more than I could bear. I came to this country and wanted to stay only for one year but now it is my home and Erik is my family. I feel my heart is torn in two pieces."
We All Have More In Common Than We Know
As a first-generation immigrant, I can more than understand Angela's feelings. I left Germany more than 20 years ago and still miss so much of my home country and my family.
I remember sitting across from Angela at our first meeting and thinking to myself " I understand this woman and what she is going through."
Moments like this always remind me that we are all truly more alike than we a different and that remembering what we have in common is so important.
Beauty Both Inside and Out
Not only is Angela a warm and sweet person she is also a very attractive woman who has worked as a model in her home country. Falling head over heels in love with her must have come easy for Erik.
Right at our first meeting, I was excited to be working with them both. It is one thing to have a very attractive person in front of my camera, but to have someone who knows how to model and shine from within, is a bonus that makes me beyond happy.
Angela and Erik's Wedding Day at Antrim 1844
Angela and Erik's wedding took place a the historic Antrim 1844 Antrim 1844. The day started out with sunshine abound and perfect for a wedding.
The Antrim hosts a beautiful bridal suite and the guest can mingle on the first floor before and after the wedding. The grounds are as beautiful as the historic home. Since the home would be too small to host a reception Antrim hosts the bride and groom in a separate building on the grounds and has a large tent to accommodate large wedding parties.
In the Bridal Suite
Taking photos of the bridal party getting ready is always fun. There is always some organized chaos that worries me. However, over the years I have come to realize that someone knows where the shoes are or veil. Not sure how the magic happens but it does. In this case, we had the added distraction of a second language. It was really lovely to hear Angela's mom and sisters talking. What a beautiful and melodic language.
The First Look
Angela and Erik opted for a First Look and we had some time before the ceremony to take photos. After that, the bridal party met inside the hotel to gather around and get ready for the ceremony.
Because the weather was just right for an outside ceremony, Angela and Eric said their "I do"s" outside by the gazebo.
After the wedding, the wedding procession went back in the side for some Champaign and relaxation and more photos.
Let's Get This Party Started
After everyone had a few glasses of the bubbly, it was time to go meet and greet the guests and get the party started.
I hope you enjoy the photos, it was really hard to choose only a few to highlight from almost 700. I gave my best :)
