Outdoor Wedding Venues on the Eastern Shore have become the new go-to venues in the past few months. Many of my clients had to cancel or postpone their weddings. Since the venue of their choice had to close during the pandemic. As we are moving into next year it looks like the pandemic will stay with us for at least another wedding season. This means for many couples looking at different options down the road.
Outdoor Wedding Venues on the Eastern Shore, We Have Options
It seems that the obvious choice is to plan to have the wedding outdoors. It is so much easier when planning a wedding to take into account that the pandemic will remain for a while longer and choose accordingly. Already, I have couples contacting me about their spring wedding change of plans.
Whenever I get a call from a bride or groom to let me know that they are yet again having to postpone their wedding, I bring up the possibility to consider an outdoor wedding.
Thinking Outside the Proverbial Box
What we all have to learn is, that the norms are shifting. Our plans going forward are not going to be what we have expected them to be. Outcomes change or a too unpredictable to pin-down. The more we are open to the change, the easier it will be. Many couples in the planning stages, think about having the ceremony inside and then moving the reception inside. Mostly, because the weather is unpredictable, and large tents are almost as expensive to rent as wedding venues. Especially if you have to pay for the location. Some estates will give you a small price break if you hold your reception in a tent instead of inside the building.
Outdoor Wedding Venues, Dance Under the Big Tent
However, what makes tents so appealing for the times we are finding ourselves in is the fact that the sides of a tent can be open, and fresh outside air can easily move around. No matter how awesome the air filtration system in a building is, it can’t compare to the outside air. Planning an outdoor wedding here on the Eastern Shore and moving your wedding to a large tent is not only a great option because our Eastern Shore lends itself to beautiful spaces. It might just be the right thing to do to keep everyone as safe as can be and still have enough space for a great celebration.
What Does It Mean To Think Outside The Box?
Of course, there are many great wedding venues where you have the option to hold your wedding outside under a tent. However, there is another option, instead of choosing a traditional wedding venue, you can look around your friend and family circle to see if someone has a big enough garden space to put up a tent. Impossible you think? Not so!
Many things in life are there for the asking. Some of my favorite weddings I photographed were so-called back-yard weddings.
How about a beach wedding with a tent? This summer I photographed a wedding in Rehoboth Beach where the couple rented a beach house for the weekend, invited their friends and family to pitch in on the rental, and rented a tent for the beach. Of course, you have to ask for permission but in this case, the landlord was more than happy to accommodate the request.
Outside Wedding Venues on the Eastern Shore, Location, Location
One of my favorite low key wedding venues here on the Eastern Shore is Swan Cove Manor.
Below is an excerpt from their website which you can access here. https://www.swancovemanor.com/
“This “One of a Kind” waterfront location is privately situated on 11 of the most scenic acres on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The property features two wonderful waterfront manor homes, each with 5 bedrooms and 3 1/2 bathrooms. Each spacious home has its own private dock, swimming pool, and fire pit with plenty of space to spread out. Our homes are designer furnished in a Chesapeake nautical theme, each featuring two separately zoned central air conditioning and heating systems, a new well-equipped kitchen, new bathrooms, new flat panel televisions in all bedrooms and living rooms with satellite TV and wireless internet service.”
Outside Wedding Venues On The Eastern Shore, Don’t Forget Our State Parks
I will post some photos in this blog from one of my favorite Maryland State Parks on the Eastern Shore. It is located in Denton and named Martinak. What I love so much about the park is that the ceremony can be held at an auditorium overlooking the river. So, don’t forget to check out your local State and County Parks when planning an outside wedding in the coming years. http://www.dnr.maryland.gov http://www.destateparks.com
