Holiday Greetings Eastern Shore Wedding Photographer

Holiday Greetings from Windsweptphotodesign

  • Holiday Greetings from Windsweptphotodesign, wishing you all the love in the Universe and the most joyous 2021. That is how far I got when I first sat down to write this post. There was not much else coming from me than that. My mind just hit a wall. What else is there to say this year? So instead of writing cheerful greetings, I looked for some poems that reflect how I feel.

The holiest of all holidays are those

   Kept by ourselves in silence and apart;

   The secret anniversaries of the heart,

   When the full river of feeling overflows;—

The happy days unclouded to their close;

   The sudden joys that out of darkness start

   As flames from ashes; swift desires that dart

   Like swallows singing down each wind that blows!

White as the gleam of a receding sail,

   White as a cloud that floats and fades in air,

   White as the whitest lily on a stream,

   Of some enchanted land we know not where,

These tender memories are;— a Fairy Tale

Of some enchanted land we know not where,
But lovely as a landscape in a dream.

Poetry Can Change the Way You Feel

  • I love this poem from Henry Wadsworth and I feel it is especially apt for this year. We all have been through a lot, and we all want our life to get back to normal but for many of us, this holiday season means isolation. We will make this sacrifice because we know that it might save someone from getting sick and that is a price we are willing to pay. However, the thought of spending the holiest of days by ourselves seems scary and so, so lonely. We know we will miss our loved ones, we will miss the hugs and the food and the cheers. We will even miss the arguments and disagreements. All we want is to be together with the ones we love. Will it still be Christmas? How will it feel to wake up on Christmas morning and not visit with the grandparents or cousins? How will it feel not sitting around a big table enjoying each other’s company?

Holiday Greetings, Wishing You All the Love in the Universe

  • Of course, it is all over the news…the dreadful lonely days ahead. This Covid Christmas. This lonely, lonely Covid Christmas. We can’t pretend it is not just another day.

A Silent Chrismas Day

  • I know, I will wake up on Christmas morning and it will feel different. It does every year. I wake up on Christmas morning and the world seems silent. It is more than a Sunday silence. It is a special, surreal silence. It makes me wonder if this how the world used to be. Silent. Before we had cars, and trucks and trains. Was every day a silent Sunday?

A Silent Alternative

  • How will I feel waking up on Christmas morning knowing that I will not see any of the people I hold so dear in my heart? I’ve been thinking about it for many days. Will I let my head plunge down into the deep abyss of a lonely soul? Or will I celebrate in a different yet joyous way? Well, I choose option number 2! I will celebrate surviving this dreadful year! I will write a long entry in my journal about being grateful for all the wonderful things my life has to offer. I will celebrate the day by slowing down, I will celebrate the day by not rushing around visiting family and friends. I will celebrate the day by taking a long walk in the forest. I will celebrate the day watching my dogs run and play. I will celebrate the day by lighting candles and listen to my favorite Christmas music. I will write this poem out on some paper and put it on my refrigerator. I want to stay reminded that the holiest of days are kept in silence and apart and that my heart will not break.
