Engagement Photography on the Eastern Shore is one of my favorite things to do. Photography in general never feels like work to me, but more like an exciting adventure that I am about to undertake. And just like a hiker or mountain climber the better prepared I am the more fun I am having. For my clients this means a better experience of the engagement shoot and that in turn means better photographs. One of the most important things to have in your arsenal is knowing where the cool places are.
Where to Go for Engagement Photography on the Eastern Shore
Of course, redundancy is boring. When my clients ask me if I have any idea on where to take photos I am usually tempted to recommend one of our beautiful beaches. I mean, that is the reason we have millions of tourists show up every year. We all love those romantic photos of a couple strolling along the beach, seagulls flying out to the sea and the sun perfectly setting on the horizon. That for many is the essence of an engagement photoshoot on the Eastern Shore.
The Eastern Shore is More than Ocean and Sandy Beaches.
Part of the Eastern Shore’s delight, in my opinion, is of course charming seaside towns and tourist attractions. I would love to photograph an engagement shoot on the Ocean City boardwalk on a cold and windy winter day. I think it would be amazing especially with wild and crazy clouds in the background.
However, we are lucky to have some beautiful state parks that are worth exploring. It easy to overlook them for engagement photography since the beach seems to be always calling.
Engagement Photography on the Eastern Shore, Terrapin Nature Park
Terrapin Nature Park is one of those places that seems to have everything one could want for the perfect engagement photoshoot.
This is an excerpt from the website:
This award-winning 276-acre nature park features a 3.25-mile oyster chaff walking trail, which meanders through wildflower meadows, wetlands, tidal ponds, woodlands and sandy beaches. The trail provides a unique vantage point for viewing an incredible variety of waterfowl, wildlife and plant species. A gazebo and wheelchair-accessible boardwalk, located along the beach afford a spectacular view of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and park benches located along the trail provides a brief respite for the weary. The trail, which wanders over several ridges, across marshlands and through woodlands, features two observation blinds overlooking the tidal ponds. The trail connects to the County’s Cross Island Trail system. Nearby free parking for the Cross Island Trail system is available at Old Love Point Park

Terrapin Nature Park, Easy Access
Besides the natural beauty, I love that the park is so easy to get to. Many of my clients live on the Western Shore of Maryland and especially if they are thinking of having engagement photos at the beach. Terrapin Nature Park is such a great solution. It is so easy to get to from both sides of Maryland and when you are standing on the beach and take photos with the dunes in the background it is almost impossible to tell that the photo is not taken on some Ocean Beach.
Of course, having the iconic Chesapeake Bay Beach in photos is something really special as well.
Below are some pictures that were taken meandering around the beautiful park. Of course, Terrapin Nature Park is only one of many Eastern Shore Parks available for engagement photos.
