An Eastern-shore wedding at Swan Cove Manor surrounded by bay waters and peace and serenity. That was my wish for Jamie and Jerome. Swan Cove Manor is one of my favorite venues to photograph weddings here on the Eastern-Shore. If you look it up on the web it will come up with a Cambridge address, but when you take a road trip to see the venue, it feels like you are time-traveling. Once you leave Cambridge behind, and I mean within 2-3 minutes, it starts feeling like a different place. The space around you opens up, the horizon somehow feels closer and the light is different. I love this part of the Eastern-Shore, and I especially like to photograph weddings there.
An Eastern-Shore Wedding at Swan Cove Manor, with a French Twist.
Jamie and Jerome live in Washington DC, and when they looked for venues nothing around their area felt like the right place to have a very casual, no-fuss wedding. Jerome is from France, and of course, he wanted as many of his family members as possible to come to celebrate with them. “We looked all around Washington and surrounding areas that could host all our family members for at least 3 days. But we couldn’t find anything that would work for us. Well, at least nothing we could afford, that is,” Jerome told me at our first meeting. “I don’t see my parents all that often, and I just want them to be as close as possible and not have to leave and go to a hotel after the wedding.”
An Eastern-Shore Wedding at Swan Cove Manor, Plenty of Room for Everyone
“So, we broadened our search into Virginia and the Eastern-Shore,” Jamie explained to me. Jamie originally from Pennsylvania, had visited the Eastern-Shore a few times to go boating on the Chesapeake Bay. So when they came across Swan Cove Manor’s website, she had a good feeling right away. “I was able to put myself there just by looking at the pictures, and that was more than I got from looking at other venue’s website.”
Besides the natural beauty, one of the best selling points is that Swan Cove Manor has several houses on the property that can be rented as well. “That was exactly what we needed. This way we could have a pre-wedding celebration and also enjoy each other’s company for a little longer after the wedding. I didn’t know that I was going to have an Eastern-Shore Wedding at Swan Cove Manor, but I couldn’t wait to see the place once we found the website.” Jamie explained. Jerome enthusiastically smiled in agreement.
The Long and Winding Road to Swan Cove Manor
As it turns out Swan Cove Manor is the perfect fit for this Eastern-Shore wedding. However, finding this place can be another matter, especially for a first-time traveler. Even though Swan Cove Manor is only about 20 minutes from Cambridge it feels like a lifetime away especially once you turn off the main road. The first time I photographed an Eastern-Shore Wedding at Swan Cove Manor I was certain that I would never find it. Still. To this day, I always have that moment when I am convinced that I took the wrong turn.
Jamie and Jerome’s Day of Joy and Happiness.
When you finally get to the driveway you can’t help but smile. First, because you are not lost and you knew deep down that indeed you are an awesome navigator. Second, the view of Swan Cove Manor is so pretty that you forget all about your worries. When I arrived at the main house, Jamie and Jerome’s family had made themselves at home and the pre-party was in full swing. Some enjoyed the pool while others took a swim and nap in and by the pool. Jamie later told me that it was exactly how she envisioned this day to be. Relaxed and easy-going with a little bit of a wedding in the late afternoon.
I am beyond happy for Jamie and Jerome. The wedding weekend turned out exactly how it was envisioned. A no-fuss, no-muss wedding surrounded by Eastern Shore beauty and showered with love from friends and family.
